The Brazilian Symposium on Computer Networks and Distributed Systems (SBRC) is an annual event held by the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC) and the National Laboratory of Computer Networks (LARC). Over almost four decades of organization, SBRC has become the most important national scientific event on computer networks and distributed systems, and one of the most selective in the field of computer science. The outstanding reputation of SBRC can be observed by the quality and number of submissions. Its main track has received an average of 300 submissions annually, of which 30% to 35% are accepted for publication and oral presentation at the symposium. Other characteristics such as the diversity and scope of activities carried out, the relevance of the topics addressed and the professionalism of its organization contributed to the consolidation of the SBRC in the calendar of national scientific events and its emergence as the most important event in the area in South America.
The 40th edition of the Symposium will be from May 23 to 27, 2022. The event will serve as an enormous stimulus for a large number of professors, researchers, developers, and entrepreneurs from all over Brazil, synthesized by a series of actions to follow, always involving professors from the area and who work at State Universities, Federal Universities and Federal Institutes (Institutos Federais – IFs). A large number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the area of ICT, created in the last 37 years through public and private universities, together with a large number of companies will certainly benefit from a scientific and technological event. Hence, SBRC will be a concrete opportunity for technological development and for the promotion of opportunities between academia and industry. The event will play a strategic role and will meet the demand of the general public of the area for events of this nature and of this size, mainly regarding the focus on thematic areas of technological development and innovation extension defined by MCTIC in 1.122/2020 document (updated by document MCTIC 1.329/2020), such as Digital Technologies and Industrial Production and Services Technologies.
The event will be composed of technical sessions, short courses, panels and debates, workshops, demos, hackathon, thesis and dissertation digest, lectures, and tutorials given by internationally renowned speakers. There is also a business forum predominantly composed of leaders of the technology sector who will bring to the scientific community the demands of development and innovation. The coordination of the event is under the responsibility of the State University of Ceará (UECE) and the Federal University of Ceará (UFC).
