MUSAS – MUlheres em redeS de computadores e sistemAs diStribuídos
MUSAS (from Portuguese, “MUlheres em redeS de computadores e sistemAs diStribuídos”) is an event that aims to encourage connections between women researchers, students, and professionals in computer networks, distributed systems, and related areas. The first edition of this pioneering event in Brazil in the computer networks and distributed systems areas was at the SBRC symposium in 2019.
The event also strongly encourages the participation of men who share the same research interests, face similar career difficulties as women, recognize the underrepresentation of women and other groups, and support a proactive action to improve the integration rate of women and motivate women to pursue a career in IT.
In its fourth edition, the MUSAS event presents the subject “Maternity and Science” at the center of the discussion. In particular, the event will include speakers who are mothers in leadership positions in Brazil, presenting the challenges of Maternity and Science from the point of view of academia and market. MUSAS will also count on “Parent in Science” expertise, a pioneering movement in discussing motherhood (and fatherhood!) in the universe of science in Brazil.
